Part of the Bridge Club of North County’s (BCNC) mission is to promote, grow and sustain the game of bridge, the world’s most popular card game. Extensive medical studies have shown that playing bridge boosts brain power and prolongs a well-functioning mind.
BCNC has a number of educational programs to help you learn and improve your game.

Coaching and Classes
Regular classes are posted here. Use the Interest Form at left to inquire about the classes.
Partnership Coaching for experienced 0-499er teams is available upon request. Our new format entails a Life Master kibitzing your duplicate match and offering bidding and play of hand advice afterwards. Cost is $20 per partnership, payable to the Director. You may arrange for coaching by using the Contact Us form at the bottom of the page and putting "Partnership Coaching" in the subject line.

Bridge Basics 1
Consists of 5 weekly sessions. Each session is about two and a half hours. Based on the proven teaching methods from Audrey Grant this course is the perfect introduction to bridge. Starting with the basics, the course progresses through modern bidding; no trump opening and responses; major suit opening bids and responses; minor suit opening bids and responses. The presenter, Hazel Turner is ACBL certified to teach bridge, and is a Ruby Life Master.
Cost is $60 for the 5 sessions, payable when you arrive, and includes a book.

Bridge Basics 2

Bridge Basics 3 - Popular Conventions​
Based on the proven teaching methods from Audrey Grant, this series of five classes offers a thorough grounding in the most common conventions; Stayman, Jacoby transfer bids, the strong opening bid, and Blackwood and Gerber. Click HERE for flyer.

Supervised Play
The Bridge Club of North County hosts our 2-hour Supervised Play sessions every Monday at 9:00AM - in September this will move to Wednesdays at 9:00AM. Cost is just $10. Come alone or bring your partner.
Supervised Play sessions are intended for beginning and intermediate level players who already have the basic knowledge of no trump and suit bids and responses, and conventions such as Stayman, Transfers and Blackwood.

Chalk Talks
Every Monday morning at 8:45AM, prior to the NLM 0-499er game, Hazel Turner gives a Chalk Talk on various aspects of bidding and play. No sign up is required.

Mini Bridge
Designed for people new to the game of bridge, mini bridge is a fun and dynamic way to learn play of the hand. Learn how to take tricks and defend without having to master the bidding system. Mini Bridge meets Wednesdays at 9 AM and a mentor is on hand to set up the games. No sign up is required. Cost is $5 per person. No partner required.

Advancing Beginners
Two Over One - Game Force

Consists of 4 weekly sessions.
Each session is about two + hours.
Based on the book by Audrey Grant and Eric Rodwell this course takes you through all the steps of 2/1 Game Force, beginning with an introduction, then a look at the forcing 1NT response, then rebids by opener and responder and finally the choice between game and slam.
Cost is $50 for the 4 sessions.
The "2 Over 1" book is $20
